In this hands-on kitchen lab students are introduced to the science behind the sense of taste and food science. In this STEM Lab students experiment with food and make rock candy, sweet caviar and sauerkraut! Examples of materials used in this class are: sugar, red cabbage, gelatin, juice, food coloring, oil, pipe cleaners, kitchen pots and one mberry Miracle tablet.
Session consists of 5 virtual, 60 minute long, weekly sessions taught via Zoom by Eugenia Rojas, PhD.

About the instructor- Eugenia Rojas, PhD
Eugenia develops and instructs STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) enrichment programs for children. Her hands-on classes take advantage of children’s natural curiosity to facilitate learning through play and inquiry, building critical and analytical thinking. In her classroom students learn to generate hypotheses and experiment to experience scientific learning. Students participate in collaborative projects, provide their own input, try and make things.
